What I Wish I Knew When I Started Learning English

Updated: Jun 10

When I first began learning English, I thought I had to be perfect before I could speak. I spent so much time memorizing rules and worrying about grammar that I barely spoke at all. I wish someone had told me back then: communication matters more than perfection.

The truth is, language is about connection. The small “mistakes” I used to stress over? Most native speakers either didn’t notice or didn’t care. What they remembered was that I tried—and that I kept trying.

Another thing I wish I knew? Pronunciation and comprehension are just as important as vocabulary. You can know hundreds of words, but if you’re not confident saying them out loud or understanding them in conversation, it’s frustrating. That’s why I created RulaReads—to help people like you build your skills and your confidence.

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of where to start, I want you to know: you’re not alone, and it’s never too late to become a strong English speaker. I work with learners of all levels and backgrounds, and I’d be honored to support your journey.

Ready to take the next step? You can book a session with me right here on the website. We’ll focus on what you need—whether it’s clearer pronunciation, better listening skills, or just feeling more at ease speaking out loud.

You’ve got this—and I’m here to help.
